Superintent King, of the Baltimore lighthouse district, was yesterday notified of the death in a hospital in Norfolk on Suday of Chief Officer Sidney Atherton, of the tender ORchid. The cause of death was influenza, which is incapacitating the forces of the district.

The funeral of Sidney Atherton, who died of pneumonia on January 12, was held from the home of his paarents, Mr. and Mrs. Moses ATherton, 1404 Lakewood Avenue. Burial was in Bonnie Brae Cemetery.
Besides his parents he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nellie ATherton; three sisters, Misses Ora and Effie Atherton, of Hudgins, WV, Mrs. A. Davis, Broadwater, Va., and one brother, Richard Atherton, who is not at sea.
Mr. Atherton, who at the time of his death was first officer of the lighthouse tneder ORchid, entered the Lighthouse Service in 1907.
