Ruth was born March 18, 1945 to John and winnifred Despard in Everett, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Emile Polk, Jr. aka Dickie; her son B.J. Chapin, her parents; her foster dad Earl Slade; and her sister Sandy Rowe.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Ginger Polk and Scott Culpepper; stepchildren Matt Wayne and Terri Polk, Carla and Chuck Roussell;
grandchildren Micah, Josiah, and Hannah Culpepper, Katie and Carlton Griffin, Jessica and Noah Barrois, Ethan and Denise Polk, Blaine Roussell; great-grandchildren Matthew and Gabriel Jones, Colt and Levi Barrois, and Hunter Polk; foster mother Ethel Craddock Davis; and dearest friend Jody Lamkin.
Ruth was an active member of Evans Creek Baptist Church. She knew her Lord and Savior and was ready to meet Him and join her beloved in heaven. She fought and overcame many obstacles, and now she is at peace.
Services will be at noon Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Williams Funeral Home 67525 Hwy 41 Pearl River, LA 70452, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am until 12 pm with Funeral starting at 12 pm. Graveside service to follow at 1 pm at Charter Oak Baptist Church.
