BURGESS, Mrs. Gwendolyn – age 72, passed away, Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Crittenton Hospital.

Mrs. Gwendolyn Burgess was born September 20, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Augusta and George Davidson Sr. She was the third child of four children born to this union. Gwen was resident of Auburn Hills, Michigan. She graduated from North Eastern High School in Detroit, Michigan in 1962. Gwen went on to further her education at the Community College of Alleghany. She later met and married Leroy “Stan” Burgess I in 1968 and to this union was born two sons, Leroy Burgess II and Harold Burgess. Gwen was employed with the Federal Government for twenty years and later retired after twenty years of service with the Internal Revenue Service in 2006. In 2008 she volunteered her time at Children’s Village of Oakland County as a Foster Grandparent. She loved to fellowship with her congregation at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church. One could say that she had the “gift of gab,” conversing with Gwen was always easy, comforting, meaningful and enlightening. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching television and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by her parents, George and Augusta Davidson Sr.; sisters, Mary Ann Taylor and Shirley Davidson; brother, Malcolm Price.
