RIDGELAND - Frankie Carter, 66, a retired manager, died of cancer Monday at her home.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home/Parkway with burial in Jessamine Cemetery. Visitation is 1 1 a.m.-2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Carter, a Portsmouth, Va., native, had lived in Jackson since 1952. She worked for McRae's Department Stores for 33 years as a divisional merchandise manager of ladies' sportswear. She was known in merchandising circles around the world, from New York to Dallas, Los Angeles, the Orient and Europe. She received the Sun Award for Retailer of the Year in 1987 in Dallas.
Survivors include: daughter, Jacqui P. Katool of Madison; son, Tippy Carter of Brandon; sister, Bette Hodges Jones of Chesapeake, Va.; and four grandchildren.
