Obituary of Jack A. Ehl
Jack "Doc" Alfred Ehl, 89, died following a brief illness on December 27, 2020. He was born September 25, 1931 in Riverside, AL to Jack and Laura Ehl. Jack attended West End High School and ofter obtaining his GED he enlisted in the U.S.Army and served with the 11th Airborne Division as a Med Tech. He later developed a love of flying and became an accomplished pilot. Following his service in the Army, he attended and graduated from Woodbury College where he obtained a degree in accounting. He began working and later was able to establish his own construction company in Los Angeles, California. His company developed a stellar reputation for impeccable work and drew the attention of many notable Hollywood actors for work on their homes. Jack loved the outdoors and loved to hike and jog. He was an avid duck hunter, fisherman and was a BoyScout Leader with his 2 boys. He was a World Champion Skeet shooter. Upon meeting his present wife, he also developed a love for ballroom dancing. Everyone who knew "Doc" loved him for his clever sense of humor and zest for life. He was a member of Mt Pisgah Baptist Church and was named an Honorary Deacon and served as an Usher. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Laura Ehl, grandson, Jeremiah Ehl, sister, Jessie Ellis and brother, Jerry Ehl. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ehl, two sons, Drake Ehl of Dallas, Texas and Josh Ehl of Long Beach, California; brothers, James Ehl(Wanda) of Birmingham and Joe Ehl of Birmingham; sisters, Joyce Ehl of Birmingham and Bobbie Belzer of Fultondale, AL and one granddaughter Hannah Loegering (Brian), of Austin Texas and 2 Great Grandchildren, Ryder and Emerson. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Mt Pisgah Baptist Church, Cropwell at 2 pm. The family will receive friends from 1pm until service time at the church, with a graveside service to follow the service in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Kilgroe Funeral Home - Pell City will direct the service
