Jessie Nell Ellis, 88, of Niceville, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 18, 2016.

Jessie was born on February 22, 1927, in Birmingham, Alabama to Jack and Laura Ehl. She was the oldest of seven children. Jessie was married to Clyde F. Ellis in 1946.

Clyde and Jessie traveled the world while enlisted in the United States Air Force, and fought in two wars. She took care of their two daughters, Jenny and Dianne while following him to various destinations. Jessie and Clyde moved here in 1965, and called the Fort Walton Beach area their home.

Jessie was a great woman with a lot of spunk and a loving sister, mother, and grandmother. Her family will remember her as a devout Christian, and member of the Fort Walton Beach Church of Christ.

Jessie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Billy Linton of Niceville; her grandchildren Michael O'Conner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Kelly Himes (Bob) of Toddville, Iowa, Lisa Younghanse (Kevin) of Fort Walton Beach and Jamie Mathews (John) of Niceville. She is survived by five great-grandchildren, Mason Himes, Mackenzie Himes, Aiden Younghanse, Garrett Younghanse and Karly Mathews. Jessie is survived by her brothers, Jack Ehl (Barbara), James Ehl (Wanda) both of Birmingham and Joe Ehl of Cebu, Philippines. She is also survived by sisters Bobbie Jean Belzer and Joyce Ehl both of Birmingham.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Jack and Laura Ehl and one brother Jerry Ehl of Birmingham. Her husband of 61 years, Clyde Ellis and their daughter Jenny Yarnes.

A Memorial Gathering will take place at the Fort Walton Beach Church of Christ, 232 Hollywood Blvd. SE, Fort Walton Beach, FL, on Saturday, Feb. 27, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. and service at 11a.m. Immediately following will be a lunch for family and friends to be held at the church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Cheri, Deborah, Ann, Melisa and Lisa at Emerald Coast Hospice for their loving care.
