Joyce Epperson, 84, of Pampa, passed away December 28, 2020 in Amarillo.
Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Byron Williamson of First Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home’s website.
As per the family’s request, facemasks are required for Joyce’s service.
Joyce was born on July 11, 1936 in Wellington to Lela and Givens Furgason. She grew up and attended schools in Wellington and Quail. Her family moved to Pampa where she later graduated from Pampa High School. It was in high school where she met the love of her life, Buddy Epperson and they later married on January 8, 1955. After getting married, they settled in Pampa, where they spent many good years working side by side at several of Buddy’s side businesses. Joyce was a high energy woman who helped manage their businesses. Joyce later became an Avon representative and worked for 25 years selling Avon where she earned many awards.
Joyce and Buddy loved to travel, and they made a lot of friends with their RV group the Texas Panhandlers. Joyce enjoyed riding motorcycles with her family and friends. She also enjoyed bowling and golf. Joyce and Buddy spent 61 great years before he preceded her in death on February 25, 2016. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two brothers, Leon Furgason and JL Furgason.
Joyce is survived by a daughter, Zindi Richardson and husband Mickey of Amarillo; by a son, Mark Epperson and wife Mary of Amarillo; her brother, Dwayne Furgason and wife Frances of Pampa; by sister-in-law, Helen Furgason of Pampa; a granddaughter, Shaylee Piland and husband Barry of Abilene; three grandsons, Jody Richardson and wife Lenna of Amarillo, Matthew Epperson and wife Ashley of Plano, and Monte Epperson and wife Haley of Amarillo; nine great-grandchildren, Braxten, Walker, Alex, Evan, Jerren, Halle, Brooks, Maci, and Miles; and several special nieces and nephews.
