The Wellington Leader April 16, 1964

Thirty-two year old Leon Furgason lost his valiant fight for life at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 14 in John Seeley Hospital, Galveston, where he was to undergo open heart surgery.

Mr. Furgason was flown to Galveston ten days ago and doctors there were preparing to perform the surgery when his physical condition permitted. His wife was with him at the time of his death.

Friends here had donated 24 pints of blood to be used during the operation, and members of the 3344th School Squadron of the 3320th Technical School at Amarillo
Air Force Base volunteered to donate the remaining 36 pints needed after hearing of the need for blood donors.

Since 1957 Mr. Furgason has been in charge of the repair department of Tyler Electric.

Henry Leon Furgason was born in Wellington, November 10, 1931, the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Furgason, now of Pampa. He attended school here, then with his family, lived away for several years, returning here in 1957 from Amarillo.

He was married December 24, 1951 to Miss Marlene Lunday at Clayton, NM.

Mr. Furgason was a member of the Baptist Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Survivors are his wife, of the home; three children: Doyle 11, Terry 9, and Sondra 6; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Furgason of Pampa; a sister and two brothers: Mrs. Buddy Epperson of Pampa, Dwayne Furgason of Amarillo, and J. L.
