Pettie, Bertha Lafayette Reid, 92, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Pettie; brothers, Walter E. and Lonnie Reid; brother-in-law, Thomas Pettie. She is survived by her sons, Bruce Pettie, Phillip Pettie; beloved nieces, Linda Pettie, Betty Reid, Diane Reid; beloved nephews, Edward Reid, Larry Reid. Bertha was a beloved wife and mother, serving as room mother for both of her sons when they were school. She was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church for 85 years where she was involved with the Ladies Bible Studies and other groups in the church. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 132, for 25 years. She retired from Virginia Life Insurance after more than 40 years of service. A private graveside service will be held at Signal Hill Memorial Park on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society.
