MISSION/WISCONSIN — Theresa Mary Escher, 86, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Briarcliff Nursing Home, McAllen, TX. She had been a resident there for the last 10 years.
Theresa was born October 2, 1926 in Schoolhill, Wisconsin, the daughter of Peter and Margaret (Knier) Schad. She attended schools in the Kiel area.
On October 9, 1946, she married Melvin H. Escher at Holy Trinity Church in Schoolhill, Wisconsin. She was a member of St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, Wisconsin, Christian Woman’s Society and Adult Choir for 22 years. She was also active in volunteer mission work. She has been a member of St. Paul’s Parish in Mission, Texas since 1985.
Theresa had been employed as a machine operator at Hansen Glove Corp. in Kiel, Wisconsin for many years and later at the Salvatorian Center in New Holstein, Wisconsin in the mailing and revenue department.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Margaret Schad, husband Melvin Escher, six brothers: Edmund, John, Theodore, Leonard, Max, Clarence, and two sisters: Marie (Fessler) and Rose (Hauch).
Theresa is survived by one daughter, Patricia Gasaway of Reno, Nevada; one grandson, Michael Gasaway of Reno, Nevada and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Flores Funeral Home of Mission, Texas
