Archie, a resident of Park Street in Livermore Falls, passed away very unexpectedly at his home.

He was born in Livermore Falls, the son of Archie and Dorothy (Davis) King and attended the local schools. He served in the U.S. Navy and after his discharge worked for International Paper Co. in Jay.

He was manager of the Riverside Hotel in Livermore Falls and later owned a pastry shop on Main Street in Winthrop and the Pantry Pride Pastry Shop in North Monmouth.

He worked the Maine county fair circuit with Billy Burr's Fun-A-Rama and Smokey's Greater Shows for more than 53 years, where he was well-known for his homemade pies at the pie car and later at the King family cook house. He also enjoyed selling cotton candy and a good game of cards. He was a member of the Pine Tree Showman Association.

He is survived by a brother, Ernest "Nooky" King of Jay; three sisters, Maddie Goding, and her husband, Carl, of Livermore Falls, Annie Hebert, and her husband, Gene, of East Jay and Mary Wilson of Peru; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his life-partner, Sheldon Clark; a brother, Palmer King; and sisters, Abbie King, Beverly Nichols, Dot Hunt and Diddie Cox.

KING - Archie E. Jr., 73, of Livermore Falls, died in Livermore Falls, Monday, Jan. 2. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls.
