Ivan (Ike) Monroe Shaffer 83, Mercersburg, Pa went home to be with his Lord Monday December 21st 2020 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born March 26th 1937 in Brush Creek Township, Fulton County, Pa a son of the late Neitha Althea (Schenck) and Emmanuel Shaffer. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife Darlene P. (Morse) Shaffer for 47 years.

In addition to wife, he is survived by his daughters: Elizabeth Ann Dennison, Waterfall, Pa and Ruth Martha Shaffer, Mercersburg, Pa;. Two brothers; Roy Shaffer, Lancaster; William Shaffer, Waynesboro; a sister Orpha (wife of Roy) Lamon, Martinsburg, WV and a sister in law Vera Shaffer, Lancaster, Pa. 7 nieces and 11 nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Oscar Emmanuel; Melvin; infant brother, Timothy and a infant sister. Also a Great nephew Robert "Rocky" Leizear II.

He was a member of Mercersburg Mennonite Church, where he enjoyed attending a small group Next Step. He worked as a farm hand for Dog Valley Farm in Crystal Spring, Pa for many years. After an early retirement he spent his time helping many in the community with odd and end jobs. He had a love of gardening, doing search a word puzzles, trains, John Deere, and putting together puzzles. He was an member and a volunteer at Cove Valley Camp, and was also a trustee of the Akersville Cemetery. He enjoyed spending time with dear friends and a cup of coffee; he also loved attending church camps with his family. He was well known as being a hard worker, a devoted husband and father. Even as a quiet man, he will be remembered for his big smile and his heart for others. His love and dedication for his family has shown thru his life. He had a strong faith in his Lord and will be missed by many, also his beloved cat Cupcake.

A funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the Mercersburg Mennonite Church with Pastor David Possinger officiating. There will be a viewing 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at 2:30 PM in Union Memorial Cemetery, Mench, Bedord County, PA.
