Thomas A. Yearian, age 73, of Mulkeytown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at his home in Mulkeytown.

Thomas was born in Du Quoin on January 14, 1947, the son of Thomas and Betty (Peterlin) Yearian. He married Barbara Longshore in Hartsville, Tennessee on October 19, 1968. Together, they have shared fifty-two years of marriage. She survives in Mulkeytown.

Thomas had worked as a welder in mine construction, becoming known to many as “Welder Tom”. He served as Trustee at the Mitchell Lake Private Club in Mulkeytown. Tom was a proud United State Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served from 1964-1968. He was a member of the Du Quoin VFW.

Survivors include his loving wife- Barbara Yearian of Mulkeytown

Sister- Mary Sue Daugherty and Dave Miller of Mulkeytown

Sister- Jessica and Henry Dare of North City

Sister-in-law- Linda and Jim Vancil of Elkville

Several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his father- Thomas Yearian, his mother- Betty (Peterlin) Yearian-Cook, step-father who raised him as a son- Gene Cook, and his brother- Jesse Cook, Jr.

Cremation rites will be accorded through Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home in Du Quoin. No services will be held at this time. Inurnment will take place at Old Du Quoin Cemetery at a later date. In honor of Thomas’ veteran status, a retired American Flag will accompany him during cremation where the flag will serve one last patriotic duty for this heroic veteran one final time. The family will be presented a beautifully framed star swatch from this same flag.
