Services will be Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Matthew Martens officiating. Family interment services will be held in Laurens. The visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. In accordance with Sally Jo's wishes, cremation will take place after the visitation.
Sally Jo is survived by her son W.D. (Connie) Baldwin, Salem, OR; daughter Ann Baldwin, Ames; three grandchildren, Will, Alexis and Eva; her sister Karen (Jim) Spies, Graettinger; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Naomi Adams, Milford; her sisters-in-law, Lucy Rusk, Dickens; Madalyn Adams, Spencer; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howard and Joyce Thomsen, Royal; and a special family friend Dan Scott. She was preceded in death by her parents Reuben and Etta Braunschweig and her husband William Baldwin.
Sally Jo Ann Braunschweig, the daughter of Reuben and Etta (Gerner) Braunschweig, was born July 11, 1935, in Storm Lake. Sally Jo graduated from Marathon High School in 1952, and received her B.A. from Buena Vista University. On Sept. 12, 1955, Sally Jo was united in marriage to William Russell Baldwin in Sioux Rapids. Sally Jo received her Masters degree from the University of Montana. She taught in schools at Jolley, Mallard and East Union and served as Principal at St. Matthews in Clare. William preceded her in death in 2003.
Sally Jo was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a lifelong member of the Women's Federation Garden Club. Her special hobby was operating the Dariette for 22 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or to the Barnum Fire Dept. Building Fund.
