Darlene Mae Thomas
Darlene Thomas, 93, of Homedale, went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2020, at Autumn Winds Expressions in Caldwell, Idaho.
She was born Darlene May Godbout on May 7, 1927, to Lloyd and Clara Godbout in Enid, Oklahoma, and raised in Summerfield, Kansas. In the summer of 1943, her family moved to Wilder, Idaho, where she attended Wilder High School for her junior year, returning to Summerfield to graduate in 1945. The next year, she returned to Wilder where she later met and married Kenneth Evans "Jim" Thomas in 1948. They raised three children on their farm outside of Homedale.
Darlene was a happy homemaker and an active member of the Homedale Friends Church for over five decades, where she served on various committees and was a Sunday school teacher and a bible study leader until age 91. She enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, both from the couch and the bleachers. She was a fixture at her children and grandchildren's games and could not be pulled away from the NBA finals. Darlene loved her family, her friends, and her community, and she dearly loved the Lord all of her days.
She was predeceased by her parents, her younger brothers Norman and Kenneth Godbout, her husband Jim, and her great-daughter Tristen. She is survived by her three children and two daughters-in-law, Jimmy (Sarah) Thomas and Steve (Tracy) Thomas of Homedale, and Diane Thomason of Portland, Oregon; eight grandchildren, Kenny, Justin and Kade Thomas of Homedale; Allison Thomas of Bellingham, Washington; Amanda Fryer of Mariposa, California; Christopher and Gregory Thomason of Bend, Oregon; Taylor Thomason of Portland, Oregon; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Autumn Winds Expressions and Signature Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Homedale Friends Church, with a viewing at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at the Wilder Cemetery in Wilder, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Friends Church building fund in Darlene's name.
