He was born on February 22, 1923 to William and Mary Lah in Freeland Park, IN. He graduated from Freeland Park High School in 1942 and was a member of the basketball team that won the State Championship. He attended Purdue University in 1943. In 1944, he started farming at the place he was born and raised on until retiring in 1997. He was first married to Ethel Hopper on February 10, 1973. She passed away on March 26, 1980. He then married Barbara Pierce of Lafayette on July 2, 1992 and she survives.
Henry attended Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church near Boswell and later attended Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford, IL. After moving to West Lafayette, he attended Redeemer Lutheran Church of West Lafayette.
He enjoyed bowling, camping, and most importantly, spending time with family.
Surviving along with his second wife are six stepchildren and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife; parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 510 E Lindberg Ave, West Lafayette, IN. Funeral service will begin at 11 AM with Reverend Joseph Townsend officiating. Interment will follow at Boswell Cemetery.
