David "Breadman" Blakely passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 in Austin, Texas at 86 years of age. He was born March 23, 1921 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was baptized in Christ in 1973. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; his five children, Richard, Beverly, Robert, Michael, and Christopher; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Noel. David was a WWII purple heart recipient who retired after twenty years in the U.S. Air Force. He and his wife of 65 years eventually settled in Austin near family. He obtained his nickname "Breadman" for his charitable work and stayed active until his death with the Rockin' Chairettes and Senior Sing-a-long and other public services. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2007 and Friday, September 14, 2007 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Blakeley will be available for viewing at 12:00 p.m. with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2007 at First Evangelical Free Church, 4220 Monterey Oaks Blvd. with Pastor Daniel Grell officiating.
