Steven E. Scott, 63, of Saegertown, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020, at Meadville Medical Center from complications due to the COVID-19.

Steven was born in Albany, NY, on December 24, 1956, a son of the late Ernest and Shirley R. (Dixon) Scott.

On October 2, 1976 Steve married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jean Reichel; she survives.

He was a member of St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church, Saegertown.

Steve was a standout football and basketball player for Saegertown High School, graduating in 1974. Shortly after his graduation Steve became employed by Crawford County starting as a second shift night watchman. For the next 44 years Steve worked his way up, retiring in the Summer of 2020 as the County Maintenance Superintendent. In 1985 Steve began his career as the Saegertown Panthers Girls Basketball Coach and in the next 34 years, he put together a career record of 608 - 264. Steve took the 1999-2000 Lady Panthers to the Class A State Finals. His teams also earned three District 10 Championships. In 2019 Steve's hard work and commitment to his team and community was recognized by having the School gymnasium named after him, an honor which meant the world to him. He was a lifetime member of the Saegertown Volunteer Fire Department and was a social member of Saegertown American Legion Post #205. His hobbies included wood working and he especially enjoyed helping his children with their home projects. Steve loved following the Pittsburgh Steelers but if they weren't playing, any football game would do, and when March Madness came around, Steve took in as much as he could. Although Steve will be remembered as a long time coach, mentor and friend he was proudest of being a loving and devoted husband, dad and PaPa. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Mary Jean, of 44 years, Steve is survived by three children Amanda Scott (Laura) of Saegertown, Adrienne Riley (Bummer) of Cambridge Springs, Gregory Scott (Heather) of Saegertown; ten grandchildren Leah, Chase, and Evander Scott, Owen, Brock, and Drake Riley, Jackson and Jacob Scott, Jameson Polanski, and Grace Scott; a brother Brian P. Scott (Shana) of Port Angeles, WA, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 4-7 PM at St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church, Renner Ave., Saegertown, where Covid-19 protocol of mask wearing and social distancing will be followed.

A private service will be held at St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church, with Fr. Mark A. Nowak, Pastor, officiating.

Steve will be laid to rest in Saegertown Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Steve's memory to Saegertown Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 164, Saegertown, PA 16433.

Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN.
