Henrietta was educated in the Turkey school system in Sampson County, North Carolina. After leaving North Carolina, she relocated to New London, Ct before becoming a long time resident of Passaic, NJ. It was there where she raised her family, worked various jobs and retired from Betmar and Sons.
She loved to sing and listen to her favorite gospel singer, her brother Ron Joyner, and play cards with her children or friends. She always made you feel welcomed in her home and entertained regularly which is why 206 Burgess Place was always the place to be.
Henrietta was preceded in death by a loving daughter, Patricia Gail Pemberton, her brother, Eli Jr., and her sister, Annie J Hall.
Henrietta will be sorely missed by her children James Cordell Pemberton (Juanita) of New Haven, Ct, Jacqueline Denise Pemberton of West Orange, NJ, Dewayne Pemberton of Quincy, Fl; her sisters and brothers, Dollie Jane Nock, Flora Lee Warren, Ronald Joyner (Irene) and Theodore Joyner (Corinne); 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Henrietta Joyner and James Wilbert (sic) Pemberton were married on February 13, 1954 at 9:20 pm in Faison Township, Wayne County, North Carolina by Moses J. Kornegay, Gospel Minister. James later married Carlvina Fine on August 23, 1969 in New London, New London County, Connecticut.
