Eddie A. Anderson

July 20, 1976 ~ December 1, 2020

Mr. Eddie Albert Anderson entered the world on July 20, 1976. He was the baby boy to Eddie and Alice Anderson. Eddie Albert came into the world weighing only 4 pounds and 7 ½ ounces with strong lungs and could fit in the palm of his father’s hand. He grew into a strong, humble, loving, kind and gentle giant. After listening to his wife Kawana read her nightly scriptures, he peacefully fell asleep and God called him home into eternal rest on the morning of Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Eddie Albert committed his life to Christ at a very young age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Eastover, South Carolina.

He was educated in Richland School District One. While attending Webber School, he played the trombone on the Band. He graduated from Lower Richland High School, Class of 1994, where he was in ROTC and played on the Varsity Basketball team as a Center/Forward. He was the jokester and class clown which ended in after school, Saturday detention, and phone calls to his parents from his teachers.

As a child, you would find Eddie Albert running from house to house in the neighborhood or in the woods climbing trees, riding the go-cart, drawing pictures of lowrider trucks and cars, and playing with his cousins and neighborhood family. He loved playing basketball with his cousins and friends, and he was smooth on the court. He spent hours playing basketball down the hill from his parents’ house or at Crossroads Park where he also played baseball for Midway Exxon. He was a protector of his sisters and his little cousins and would teach them how to wrestle, karate kick, climb over the fence, and jump off the back porch of the house.

In addition to being great at baseball and basketball, he took TAP Dance class for over five years with his sisters and cousins and was a good dancer on the dance floor. He would often break out with a “shuffle ball change” tap dance, a crazy dance move or beatbox in the middle of a family gathering or while everyone was just sitting around talking. Eddie Albert was always curious and wanted to know how things were built. There would be tools scattered around his room and pieces of metal and screws on the floor from a radio, remote control, old television, or Atari/Nintendo game that he took a part. He somehow managed to put it back together even though it may not work completely. During the summer months Eddie Albert would be right by his daddy’s side working with Anderson Masonry where he learned how to lay brick, read the level, use a trowel, and mix mortar.

After high school, Eddie Albert enlisted in the United States Army serving 20 years with an MOS of 13F-Fire Support Specialist and later moving to 13M-MLRS/HIMARS Crew. He was stationed in Korea, Germany, Fort Sill Oklahoma, Fort Stewart Georgia, and Fort Benning Georgia. He also completed several tours to Iraq and Afghanistan earning numerous awards and decorations to include the Army Achievement Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal (4), and Bronze Star (2). Eddie Albert served with honor and distinction and retired as a Staff Sergeant in December of 2014.

He returned home to South Carolina and after a few months of much deserved relaxation, he became employed by Federal Express as a delivery driver. In 2018, he decided he wanted to return to his love of fixing things. He graduated from Fortis College receiving his HVAC Certification and became employed by Sunbelt Rentals in their Co-op program and, within a few months, he was brought on as a full-time HVAC Service Technician.

He was a fan of the Carolina Panthers and enjoyed watching the University of South Carolina Gamecocks at home with his family and best buddy, Gizmo, by his side. He was a funny guy that kept everyone laughing. He loved spending time with his family laughing and talking at the family cookouts. He learned his cooking skills from his mother and his grilling skills from his father. He loved cooking different types of food and he was known as the “Grill Master”, trying new spices and seasonings. He would always make his famous deviled eggs which did not last long.

Eddie Albert was a joy to be around. He loved spending time laughing and joking with family and friends, and his smile with dimples would light up any room. He would often admit that he wasn’t perfect and knew that he had many challenges to overcome, however, he knew God was giving him the strength to keep moving forward and he always tried his best and did all that he could. He was not the best singer, but to encourage himself he would often sing and play one of his favorite songs titled In The Middle by Isaac Carree … “Don’t worry ‘bout what you’re going through, Instead of worrying, here’s what you can do, praise Him anyway, in the middle of it, in the middle of it, in the middle of it, just praise Him anyway, in the middle of it. No matter what the world brings my way, Lord I’m gonna praise you anyway”.

His wife, children, grandchildren, parents, and sisters meant the world to him and he lit up with pride, with gleaming eyes and joy in his voice when talking about them all. Eddie Albert was a devoted and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, battle buddy and friend. Even after leaving his hometown of Eastover, SC, serving 20 years in the United States Army, being described as one of the best gunners ever to launch a rocket from the MLRS(Multiple Launch Rocket System) and retiring from the Army and returning home, he was never boastful about his life and accomplishments. He had an influence on the lives of his family, many of his lifelong friends from nursery school all the way to his fellow Soldiers in the U.S Army and people around the world by just being himself; a quiet gentle spirit, humble, loving, and kind.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Marie Mclemore Anderson, and Boston and Gertrude Johnson Hipps.

Eddie Albert “Ed” leaves a family that will continue his legacy and cherish precious memories, his loving and devoted wife, Kawana Anderson; five children, Monique (Dillon) Hackett, Jamaul Anderson both of Huntersville, NC, Danesha Anderson of Lawton, OK, Shacoria Anderson of Atlanta, GA, and Jordan Rivers, of Columbia, SC; parents, Eddie and Alice Anderson of Eastover, SC; three sisters, Sandra Williams of Columbia, SC, Vonda (John) Howell of Hopkins, SC, Myra (Jarvis) Adams of Hinesville, GA; beloved grandchildren, Juliana Grace, Dillon Tre (DJ) and Zyaire Jahmeir; special cousins/brothers, Will Murray of McDonough, GA and Jarrah Jordan, Mint Hill, NC; one godbrother, Devon Goodwin of Haymarket, VA; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Vanessa Anderson of Hopkins, SC; grandfather-in-law, Deacon Shand Sims; and brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Latronda Hardnett of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves behind his road partner and best buddy whom he loved dearly, his dog Gizmo as well as a host of loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends whom he held near and dear to his heart that will all miss him.
