Rev. Maurice Johnson age 72, of Section passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020. Funeral services are set for 2pm Monday, December 21, 2020 from the Haigwood Church with Revs. Shannon Hilley and Dennis Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Haigwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8pm Sunday at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Johnson; special niece and nephew, Nakeisha and Shannon Hilley; brother, Eddie (Judy) Johnson and Larry (Liz) Johnson; sisters, Carolyn (Marlon) Hancock, Jean Phillips, and Peggy Martin; mother-in-law, Marie Fricks; brother-in-law, Harold Fricks; adopted granddaughter, Katie Dean Mitchell; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Burma Johnson.
Rev. Johnson was the pastor of Salem Baptist Church, Moderator of the Town Creek Association, and retired as a bus driver after 40 years.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Wynn, Chubby Pope, Todd Anderson, Thomas Cornielius, Gabriel Hilley, and Jeff Slaton.
