Mrs. Henry Frettum Dies From Burns

The death of Mrs. Henry Frettum which occurred so suddenly last Wednesday afternoon of last week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Marum, in Sletten Township, was a shock to the community.

Mrs. Frettem, who during the past eight months had suffered with a mental ailment, which no doubt accounted for her helplessness in extinguishing the fire in her clothing caught while kindling a fire in the kitchen range. She was, at the time, alone in the house and before assistance arrived was so badly burned that death followed five hours later.

Altho the pains were very severe, she was conscious until death came as relief to her suffering, and she quietly passed away as if to sleep.

Mrs. Frettem has always lived a quiet life and since her health began to fail, when her ailment at times would relieve her, she looked eagerly forward to the time when her only sure relief would come.

Five years ago at Kenyon, Minnesota, she was united in marriage to Henry Flettum, and up to December last, when she came here to stay with her parents, she had lived with her husband on a farm near Kenyon. She was 29 years and 3 months old at the time of her death.

Funeral services were held from Bethel Church, Sletten, on Saturday and interment made in the church cemetery plot. Rev. Korshavn of Winger preached the sermon.

Her untimely demise is mourned by her husband; Mr. Henry Flettem; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Marum; one brother Andrew and two sisters, Mrs. Anton Knutson and Mrs. Joseph Dyrdahl.
