Carol Ann Price
February 18, 1945 - November 24, 2020

Short Gap, WV-
Carol Ann Price, 75, of Short Gap, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at The Dawnview Center. She was the loving wife of the late William F. Price, Jr. Born February 18, 1945 in Short Gap, she was the daughter of the late Floyd N. Umstot Sr. and Alma G. (Staggs) Umstot.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Marion E. Cresap, her brothers, Harold B. Umstot and James Lee Umstot, her son-in-law, Chris Mantheiy, her grandson, Zachary Michael Price, and three nephews, Eddie Umstot, Joey Umstot, and David Umstot.

Carol was a 1963 graduate of Fort Ashby High School and was crowned Miss Mineral County in 1963. She attended Catherman’s Business School.
After Catherman’s, Carol worked at Holzshu-Blaul-Welch Agency and Sear’s Credit Department.
Carol belonged to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women.

Our mom, diagnosed with a benign form of MS in 1981, never missed a beat. PTA Parent, Homeroom Parent, Band Parent (her favorite). Daddy got off work at 4:00 every day, and a home cooked meal was on the table by 4:15, nothing was out of place in our home, always clean and tidy.

Our mom never left the house and never started the day at Dawnview Center without her lipstick on, hair brushed, makeup on, and with a stylish Alfred Dunner outfit on. She always taught us to dress with style and act like a lady.

She loved Christmas parties with her friends at Wesley Chapel and loved making Easter Eggs every year.

One of our mom’s favorite pastimes was shopping! When she could walk, by pushing a shopping cart around, we couldn’t get her to leave a store! She would literally spend hours shopping. She loved it when we would take her shopping. We all looked forward to taking her out to lunch every Sunday and to the mall.

Mother always liked to surprise us with gifts, so QVC was always on at Dawnview and it gave mother great pleasure to continue to shop for us. In fact, she had already ordered us gifts for this Christmas, during QVC ‘s Christmas In July.

Our mom loved music. She loved to sing and dance! When we would mention a boy that we liked, mother wouldn’t ask us “Is he nice?” Her first question would be “Can he dance?”

Our lives will never be the same without you, Mother. However, envisioning you walking and dancing again, gives us peace. We hope you ran into the arms of daddy and you are both singing and dancing in Heaven. We love you!

Survivors include her daughter, Denise Mantheiy; daughter and son-n-law, Tina and Kenneth Rohrbaugh; grandchildren, Josh, Emily, and Lily Mantheiy, and Jordan and Noah Roberson; brother Floyd N. Umstot Jr. and wife Jean, Pinto, MD; Brothers-in-law Paul Price and wife Bonnie, Short Gap, Donnie Price and wife Darlene, Williamsburg, VA; sisters-n-law, Norma Shanholtzer, Springfield, Jeannie Robertson, Fountain, Anna Wheeler and husband Mike, Bellevue, NE, and Leona Price, Longmont, CO; and several step grandchildren and step greatgrandchildren, several loving nieces and nephews, and many devoted friends.

Friends will be received at Upchurch Funeral Home, Rt. 28 Fort Ashby, WV on Saturday December 12, at 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. The service to follow at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Scott Knowlton, officiating.

Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Chapel Food Pantry, 128 Wesley Road, Ridgeley, WV 26753.
Thank you to the staff and residents of Dawnview Center for caring for our mom. And to WVU Hospice for your compassionate care the last few months of mother’s life. Thank you to Dr. Janjua and Dr. Gupta for the many years of care you gave to our mom.
