HOUTZDALE - James E. Anderson, 77, of Houtzdale, died on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020 at his home.

Born on Jan. 6, 1943 in Brisbin, he was the son of the late David A. and Ruth M. (Price) Anderson. He married Barbara J. (Supenia) Anderson on March 23, 1968 at the First United Methodist Church in Houtzdale; she survives at home.

James was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Houtzdale.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the Houtzdale Freeberg Post American Legion, choir member of the church, he taught the Audit Sunday School Class of the church and was a member of the United Methodist Men's Group of the church.

James was retired Supervisor Mill Work for Shain Shop Bilt in Philipsburg and was a 1961 graduate of the Moshannon Valley High School.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved coaching youth sports in the Moshannon Valley School District.

In addition to his wife he is survived by: two sons, David J. Anderson and his wife Nicki of Philipsburg, and Christopher S. Anderson and his wife Lorelei of Smithmill; three sisters, Shirley Glasgow and her husband Bill of Arcadia, NY, Doris Sharpless of Sandy Ridge, and Dawn Petro and her husband Jim of Hawk Run; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Brandon, Tyler, Leigha, Noah, Annabeth, Aiden and Benjamin Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC in Osceola Mills with the Rev. Robert Ford officiating. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Brisbin.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 12 p.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Houtzdale American Legion Honor Guard.
