Amanda Ashby was born in Davis county, Iowa, August 25, 1862. She was married to Elijah Johnson, November 23, 1882, departed this life June 23, 1913. The deceased was the mother of five children, four sons and one daughter, one son dying in infancy. The children were at her bedside during her last illness. besides the husband and children she leaves an aged mother, four sisters and three brothers to mourn her loss. When a girl she united with the Christian church of which faith she still clung. The funeral was preached in the Christian church of Fredonia by Rev. C.W. Longman. Interment in the Fredonia cemetery.
