Funeral services for Bess Davis Cretsinger, 90, of Hallsville will be held at noon Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Hallsville with the Rev. John Taylor, the Rev. David Massey and the Rev. Chuck Warnock officiating. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Cretsinger died Sunday afternoon at a local nursing home.
She was born Feb. 13, 1908, in Hallsville, to Jeff Davis Sr. and Ellie Keasler Davis. She was a graduate of Hallsville High School and Baylor University. She spent most of her life as a teacher in Hallsville, retiring in 1967. Mrs. Cretsinger was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Hallsville and an active member of the Hallsville Cemetery Association. She was preceded in death by her husbands, J.O. Cretsinger and Gerald Hollis; her parents; three brothers; and a sister. Survivors include her sons, Bryan Hollis of Hallsville and Bob Hollis and wife, Clarenda, of Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Keith Hollis, Christie Trammel and Carter Hollis; sister, Flossie Neal of Beeville; great-grandchildren, Gerald Michael Trammel and Tyler Chase Trammel. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Hallsville Cemetery Association.
