Ex-Welfare Official Mrs. Nettie Lillian Ransom, 90, 828 North California Street, widow of F. B. Ransom, who was an attorney and general manager of Madam C. J. Walker Manufacturing Company, died yesterday in Marion County General Hospital. She was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Women's Improvement Club, Flanner House Guild, Fox Lake Land Owners Association, Dame's Social Club and the Old Settlers Cub of Indianapolis. She was active in the United Service Organization during World War II and had been a member of the Marion County Public Welfare Board. A native of Jackson, Miss., she was a resident of Indianapolis about 64 years. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Stuart Mortuary, with burial in Wood Haven Cemetery.
∼ She was survived by sons Frank B., Frederick A., Willard B., Robert E., and Clifford B., and daughter A'Lelia E.
At the time of her burial, the cemetery was known as "Wood Haven" and "Floral Park," prior to its new designation, effective summer 2001.
