Frank Coleman passed away Monday morning at Baptist Hospital from pneumonia. A family service will be held Sunday, December 13th at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS. Pastor Glenn Pope, of Lakeshore Congregational Methodist Church, will perform a short service.
Born in Weir, MS on February 12, 1928 to Clyde Walker Coleman and Sallie Belle King Coleman. He attended Weir High School and East MS Junior College in Scooba, MS before being drafted and enlisting in the Navy at the end of WWII. Anyone that knew Frank knew he loved hunting, fishing, gardening, joking and his grandkids. He owned and operated Auto Glass Company on Court St. in Jackson until his retirement. He was a long time member of Sunset Hunting Club in Grand Gulf and previously Big Oak Hunting Club, Franklin County Hunting Club and Sam Newman Hunting Club on Kings Point Island North of Vicksburg.
Frank is survived by his wife of 72 years, Kate Gladney Coleman originally from Weir, MS; brother, James Reed Coleman (Glenna); sons, Ken Coleman (Nancy) and Dennis Coleman (Renee); grandchildren, Michelle Harper (Chase), Brittany Parker (Kyle) and Tyler Coleman; great grandchildren, Amelia Harper and Olive Kate Parker.
Along with his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his brother, Johnnie Burbage Coleman; sisters, Nannie Alice Oliver, Mary Elizabeth Cutts, Francis Coot Cutts and Celia Borque.
