Nancy Chipman was born on October 6, 1772 in Nova Scotia. She was the youngest daughter of Handley Chipman Sr and Nancy Post, and the only one of their eleven children to be born in Nova Scotia following their immigration in 1761 to take up a grant of land freed up by the expulsion of the French Acadians in 1755.
Nancy married, as his second wife, Abner Morse Jr, son of Abner Morse Sr and Anna Church, and widower of Elizabeth Saunders, on May 27, 1793 in Cornwallis, Kings County, Nova Scotia. Rev. Hugh Graham officiated the ceremony.
She was widowed, at age 67, on December 4, 1839 by the death of Abner. They had been married for 46 years.
Nancy died, at age 79, on December 30, 1851 and was laid to rest beside her husband in Morse Burial Ground, West Paradise, Annapolis County.
