A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, where a visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes.com. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Ruth was born on March 15, 1936 in Manitowoc, to Hugo and Verona (Heinzen) Gerharz. She was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Schmidt on May 3, 1958 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He died on January 1, 1994.
In her younger years she was employed at Manitowoc City Hall and later worked for the Manitowoc Public Utilities.
Ruth enjoyed flowers, playing cards, reading, watching the birds and deer and was a huge Packer fan. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth (Dan) Aumann of Marshfield, two grandchildren, Taylor Aumann and Ken Aumann, two great grandchildren, Adeline and Benji and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four sisters, Dolores Schweigl, Mary Ann Henning, Betty Schmitt and Jean Bushman.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Wells Nature View for being like a second family and making Ruth feel special for the past five and a half years.
