Carol J. Lamb, 78, of Virden, Illinois passed away on December 3, 2020 at Sunrise Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Virden. Carol was born on August 31, 1942 in Greene County near Hardin, Illinois on her family's farm. She was the daughter of Philip and Mary Catherine Carmody and was the youngest of 8 children. Carol married Fred Lamb on August 1, 1964 at St. Norbert's Church in Hardin, Illinois. Fred preceded her in death.
Carol is survived by her children Jeff (Nicole) of Arvada, Colorado, Barry (Ann) of Auburn, Illinois, and Kirk. There are 7 grandchildren - Kailyn, Kensey, Darren, Jeremy, Anthony, Margwen and Bryan, and 2 great granddaughters, Parker and Leighton.
Carol graduated from Hardin High School in 1960 and attended Southern Illinois University at Alton/Edwardsville, graduating in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She earned her Master of Science in Education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1989. Family, education, and the Catholic Church were the focus of Carol's life. She loved spending time with her immediate and extended family.
Carol taught kindergarten and third grade for the Virden and Thayer School Districts for 38 years, retiring in 2003. She loved and cared deeply for her students, putting her heart, soul, and time into the education of hundreds of children over the years.
Carol was a devout Catholic who was dedicated to serving God and the Church. She taught religion education classes, volunteered, and served as a lay minister until she was no longer able due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease.
