Daughter of Norman Eugene Nielsen and Verda VaLoie Christensen

Married Danny Lee Drake, 4 June 1980, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah

Obituary - Our precious mother, Linda Ann Nielsen Drake, died peacefully on December 5th, 2020, surrounded by family. She had suffered for several years with different health conditions and is finally now at peace. She blessed the lives of many, many dear friends and family members and will be greatly missed. While it can't possibly encompass her depth of character and dignity, a brief synopsis of her life is provided.

On December 30th, 1950, Norman Eugene and (Verda) VaLoie (Christensen) Nielsen welcomed their first child into this world. Linda was the favorite oldest sibling to 5 younger sisters and one brother. She graduated from Murray High School and served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was sealed for time and all eternity to Danny Lee Drake on June 4th, 1980 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a medical transcriptionist and worked in healthcare over 40 years. Her most precious gems in life were her two children, David and Catherine. Her newest role, as grandmother to William, brought much needed sunshine in the last year of her life.

Her many loves and hobbies included: crafting, card making, sewing, crocheting, watching NCIS and BYU sports, playing games, family history, camping, watching her kids dance and swim, cooking, good food, playing piano, music - especially Josh Groban, autumn leaves, snow, snowmen, hugs, cartooning, reading, and above all, snuggling with those she loved best: her grandson, her puppies, and her children.

“Charity never faileth” was her underlying motto. She served long and hard in many church callings where she was a great example of leadership and Christ-like love. Life was not easy and there were many struggles. However, she was able to find peace and hope through her Savior, Jesus Christ. May her legacy live on through the lives she has touched.

Survived by her loving children: David (Brenda) Drake, Catherine (Trent) Bowman. Grandson William Drake Bowman. Many sisters, in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, Danny Drake, brother Alan Nielsen and her parents Norman and VaLoie Nielsen.

Funeral services will be held at Jenkins-Soffe, 4760 S. State Street, Murray, Utah on Saturday December 12th at 11:00 am by invitation only. A virtual link will be provided at the top of this obituary. A viewing for close family and friends, at the same location, prior to funeral services from 9:00 am to 10:45 am with an option of a live Facebook feed. Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens in Millcreek, Utah.
