Son of Charles Benton Woods, Jospeph grew up in Butte, attended Sacred Heart schools and graduated from Butte High School in 1968. On October 28, 1978, he married Sheila Sue Shumway in Wolf Point, MT. He started his mining career in Anaconda but moved to Nevada to be Heap Leach Superintendent for FMC Gold Company. After her retired from Beartrack Mine in Salmon, ID, as a site manager, he and Sheila moved to Idaho Falls in March 2009. Joseph enjoyed spending time in the outdoors where you would find him on his boat or around a campfire. Survivors beside Sheila included: sons William J. Woods of Butte, MT, and Jared O. Woods of Anchorage, AK; and sister Cheryl (Dave) Ungerman of Helena, MT; preceded by brother Charles John Woods, sister Patsy Corbitt, and stepmothers Frankie and Alice.
