Actor. Born to Jewish parents, he began his career in entertainment at the age of nine when he was cast in the Broadway musical "Annie Get Your Gun" (1946 to 1949) which starred Ethel Merman. He had further stage credits with "The Happy Time" (1950 to 1951), "Bernardine" (1952 to 1953), "Take A Giant Step" (1953), "Anniversary Waltz" (1954 to 1955) and "A Room Full of Roses" (1955), prior to receiving a Theatre Award for his starring performance in the production "Blue Denim" (1958). He went on to originate the role of 'Buddy Baker' in the Neil Simon play "Come Blow Your Horn" (1961 to 1962). He made his motion picture debut with "Teenage Rebel" (1956) and repeated his role of 'Ernie Lacey' in the film adaptation of "Blue Denim" (1959). Further film credits include "The Wackiest Ship in the Army" (1960), "All Hands on Deck" (1961), "The Long Goodbye" (1973) and "Cannonball Run" (1981). He appeared in scores of television programs including the role of 'Larry Barnes' in "The Joey Bishop Show" (1961 to 1962), "Love, American Style," "Operation Petticoat," "Happy Days," "Too Close For Comfort" and "Murder, She Wrote." He was married to actress Betty Lou Keim.
