David Anthony Schwartz, 78, of Fowler, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 1, 2020. He was born on June 19, 1942 in Lafayette to the late F. S. "Jack" and Lucille (Steinmetz) Schwartz.

Dave graduated from Fowler High School in 1960 and served in the Marine Corps from 1961-1965.

He married Mary Hardebeck on July 23, 1966 and she survives.

Dave was a machinist at Fairfield Mfg. Co. for 40 years, retiring in 2004. He also farmed most of his married life and retired from farming in 2017.

He belonged to Sacred Hearth Catholic Church in Fowler and was a member of M.A.S.H, Catholic Order of Foresters and the American Legion Post 57 where he served with the Honor Guard.

Dave enjoyed working with cattle, fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family and friends. His family especially enjoyed BBQ chicken on his Weber grill, his sense of humor and his "intellectual" sayings. Exploring all 50 states with Mary was a dream come true.

Surviving along with his wife are five children; 14 grandchildren; four brothers; and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 9 to 11 AM with the Funeral Mass to follow at the Sacred Heart Church in Fowler. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
