"Elisha Carpenter settled the farm next Ozias Bingham in North Towanda about 1805. Here he died about 1812 and was buried upon the farm. His widow, Cynthia(Smith) Carpenter, afterwards married Amasa Withey and he lived on the farm with her until his death. The Carpenter children were sons Garner and Elisha, and daughters, who married as follows: Tamer to Urial Holbert; Eleanor to Nathaniel Bailey; Hannah to Elisha Foster; Mahala to Iddo Ames; Jane to John Packard; Rebecca to Samuel Green; Cynthia to Benjamin Chaapel."
