He was 79 years old and a retired lieutenant with the Akron Police Dept. which he joined in 1917. He was a policeman for 28 years and a lieutenant for nine years, retiring in 1945. Then he became a member of the Goodyear Aircraft police force for 10 years before retiring a second time.

He was a member of Adoniram Lodge 517 F&AM, Yusef Kahn Grotto, and was a 50 year Mason.
