Pauline was born Aug. 3, 1927, in International Falls, to parents Irene and Paul Buchholz. She was united in marriage to William Frank Hardwig on Sept. 17, 1948, in International Falls. Pauline was a bookkeeper at Sears, a mother, and a homemaker. She enjoyed and was known for making great cookies and homemade bread. She loved animals, especially cats, interior design plans, reading and especially playing Canasta at Cam’s house with family members until her eyesight failed. She loved dancing, playing music, and was self-taught on the piano, organ, accordion and violin. She was member of Zion Lutheran Church until she entered assisted living.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; brother, Bernard Buchholz; and sisters, Alice Johnson and Myrtle Sorkness.
She is survived by her son, William Paul “Billy” Hardwig (Peggy); daughters, Cheryl Wanska (John) and Sheila Wiedemann (Henry); four grandchildren, Erik, Kelsey, Steven and Kimberly; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Martha Buchholz, Rosie Wolfinger, Inez Hardwig and Patty Hardwig.
Pauline had been a part of five living generations in her family, for the second time. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, at Green-Larsen Mortuary.
