Betty Jean DeLoach Rogers - SAVANNAH - Betty Jean DeLoach Rogers, 84, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2014 at Spanish Oaks Retreat. She Was Born on April 3, 1930 in Bulloch County and lived the majority of her life in Garden City, GA. She was a graduate of Nevils High School and Draughon's Business College. She was a past member of the Savannah Jaycettes, Eastern Star and Garden City Recreation Commission. She volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital and the Lucas Theater. She and her husband, Lee Roy, owned and operated Island Pharmacy on Wilmington Island from 1972 until 1996. She was predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Lee Roy Rogers, Jr.; second husband, Charles Ray Sr.; parents E.W. and Beatrice DeLoach and brother, John P. DeLoach. She is survived by son David E. Rogers (Sherry) of North Carolina; daughters Barbara Rogers Hackney (Jay) of Savannah, GA and Janet Rogers Hayslip (Preston) of Macon, GA; brothers Don DeLoach (Catherine), James DeLoach (Virginia), and Dean DeLoach (Colleen); sisters-in-law Joyce Crosby DeLoach and Anne Rogers Boatright; four grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She attended Savannah Primitive Baptist Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Central Christian Church. The family would like to express their gratitude for the care provided by Melissa McGinn, Carolyn Johnson and the staff of Spanish Oaks Retreat and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 201 Television Circle, Savannah, GA 31406 or Spanish Oaks Hospice, 8510 Whitefield Avenue, Savannah, GA 31406. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. today, Thursday, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
