Richard was baptized January 6, 1919 in Selma, AL under the pastorate of the late Rev. Charles A. Lett. Richard served as chaplain of the children's choir and the Sunbeam. He was a member of the Selma Youth Choir where he served as chaplain.
He received his elementary and secondary education in private and public school in Selma, Alabama, Great Lakes, Illinois, and Geln Allen, Virginia. After high school, he enlisted United States Air Force and worked as an Avionics Specialist ( electronic systems on aircraft) with top service clearance for six years before being honorably discharged to work in the private sector. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Airport Management.
Richard enjoyed fishing and was taught by his father at the age of three. He could fish day or night and was always in search of a great fishing spot. Richard enjoyed traveling, meeting new people (he never met a stranger), and experiencing new cultures. He had a flair for fashion and loved shopping for new fashion.
Richard is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willie James and Viola Richardson.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Monroe Chapel Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday, November 27th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
