Charles Albert “Alphas” Burnett, age 78, of Hancock, Md., passed away from complications of pneumonia at the Meritus Medical Center, in Hagerstown, Md., on Monday, November 23, 2020.

Born July 15, 1942, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Harold A. and Magdalene M. (Fox) Burnett; and the widower of the love of his life, Dorothy (Sites) Burnett, who passed away July 20, 2019.

He was a graduate of Hancock High School.

He had been employed by Texaco and Rayloc, both in Hancock, where he was a decorated, faithful employee. He loved to play cards, fish, and play his scratch-offs.

Charles is survived by one sister, Barbara L. Flowers and husband, James, Jr., of Hancock; one son, Charles “Buddy” Burnett, ll and wife, Melina, of Hagerstown, Md.; one daughter Robin Vanorsdale and husband, Ricky, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Charles “CJ” Burnett, Erika Burnett, Misty (Vanorsdale) Erickson, and Rickey Vanorsdale; five great-grandchildren, Melissa, Riley, Neimiah, Alaric and Freya; and nephews, Denny and David Flowers.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Elizabeth Burnett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1850 York Road, Timonium, Md. 21093.

Services will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock. Online condolences will be accepted at www.grovefh.com
