Charles Donald Layton, 83 years of age of Adamsville, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.
Charles was born on January 12, 1937 to Shelby Alton Layton (1898-1947) and Lillie Mae Windham Layton (1900-1980).
He attended Ramsay High School in Birmingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Billy Ray Layton, Sr. (1933-2008), Carl Alton Layton (1919-1982); and great grandchildren, Bryanna Marie Cox and Alaina Grace Cox.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elsie Jewel Vee Layton; daughters Janice D. Dyer (Barry) and Debra Lynn Layton (Stanley); grandchildren, Heather D. Howard (Bob), Donald A. Cox (April), Stephen B. Dyer and Matthew S. Layton; great grandchildren, Connor Howard, Alexandra, Austin, Avery and Ashton Cox and Shelby Layton; sister, Ruby Helen Smith Margate and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He attended Third Presbyterian Church and worked at U.S. Pipe for 39 years until he retired in 2002. He adored his wife and loved spending time with his family and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who loved him and knew him.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home with a Celebration of Don’s life following at 2:00 PM. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
