Mrs. Betty Jean Whisenhunt Beck, 82, of Lowgap, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior from Northern Regional Hospital Sunday, November 22, 2020.
She was born in Forsyth County, September 15, 1938, to the late Thomas Wesley and Mary Keaton Whisenhunt.
In her earlier years, Betty worked at Renfro Corporation, and H and R Block, then she was the manager at Eddie’s Zip Foods for many years before retiring. Betty was a dedicated Christian and a faithful member of Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, and a son-in-law, Joyce Melissa, and Bobby Boyd, and Sharon Kay Moser all of Dobson, Barbara Sue Beck, and Melody Dawn Allen both of Mt. Airy; a son, Danny Lee Beck of Lowgap; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a special friend, George; and her extended church family.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, George Alvin Beck; a grandson, Randall Allen; a son-in-law, Randy Allen; and sisters, Peggy Sparks, Edna Miller, and Annie Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Butch Holder, Rev. Bill Spurlin, and Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 PM and again just after the service in the fellowship hall at the church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church, Building Fund, 344 York Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
