Robert A. "Bob" Stormer Sr., 90, of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, at WCA Hospital.
He was born in Kiantone, N.Y., on Jan. 15, 1927, the son of the late John H. Sr. and Neva Blackmar Stormer.
Robert was raised and educated in the Celoron area. He served in U.S. Army during the end of World War II and also during the Korean conflict.
He worked at AMSCO and retired from there after 39 years. He was later employed by All Metal Specialities.
Robert was a member of Bemus Point Veterans of Foreign War Post 557, Ira Lou Spring American Legion Post 149, War Vets Recreation, Lakewood Rod and Gun and a lifetime member of Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department.
He enjoyed his fishing days on Chautauqua Lake with his wife at their cottage. He also enjoyed hunting and bowling in a couple's league. Robert looked forward to going out to dinner on Friday nights with his family for a fish fry. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his son, Robert A. Stormer Jr. of Jamestown, N.Y.; two daughters: Sheila K. Devine (Ronald D. Paige) of Cleveland, Tenn., and Trudy L. Waite of Jamestown; three brothers: John H. Stormer, Jr. of Ashville, N.Y., Donald Stormer of Lake Mary, Fla., and Charles Stormer of Randolph, N.Y.; a sister: Shirley Boutelle of Jamestown; many nieces, nephews and two granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret L. "Peg" Baker Stormer, whom he married March 15, 1945, in Celoron, N.Y., and who died in 2007; by a sister: Mary Smith.
Friends and family may call at Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, 316 E. Fifth St., Jamestown, N.Y., on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A service will be held there on Wednesday at 11 a.m., the Rev. Donald Ray, retired chaplain of WCA Hospital will officiate.
Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery, Fluvanna, N.Y.
