It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our precious loved one. How we will grieve her loss.

Lisa DeLynn Poteet, age 60, died peacefully in her sleep on November 19, 2020. A lifelong resident of Neches, TX, she was born on April 7, 1960 to parents, Clyde Melvin Minton and Barbara Duke Minton.
December 4, 2010 she married her best friend and soulmate Robert Poteet. They had 10 beautiful years together. Something magical happened to Lisa when Robert came into her life. She blossomed into someone who just exuded joy and inner peace. She radiated light and happiness. Together they became one, and set about uniting two families together. Robert loved her children as his own and she loved his. Weekends were spent with grandbabies, filling their little home with laughter and love.
They bred boston terrier pups and children and puppies made their home joyful. Lisa loved people, especially broken people. She had battled addiction and came out on the other side of it with a heart for those struggling still. She understood the power of addiction and never judged. She sponsored many lost and hurting people in NA and AA and loved them when they needed it most.
Even her chosen profession showed her heart for others. She was a special education teacher at Neches ISD for years and advocated for those beautiful children everyday. Giving them self-esteem and confidence. Throughout the years those children would write to her to thank her for loving them.
Lisa's smile lit up a room, she was gentle and full of light. She was generous to a fault. If you told her you liked her shirt she would tell you "You Can Have It"! She liked shoes, the beach, babies, sonic ice, sunshine, old rocking roll and thrifting. She loved us and her family. Lisa made us laugh and connected us in a way that made us whole. A puzzle with all its pieces. A piece of our puzzle is missing. So that we mourn and hurt. But Lisa was a child of God a saved and baptized believer who understood that it was God's grace that had saved her.
And she extended a similar beautiful grace to everyone she met. And we know she is made whole and rejoicing with our Savior and that brings us comfort.
She was supposed to bring her amazing deviled eggs and cucumber dip for Thanksgiving this year. As she did every year. So the angels in heaven are going to get quite a treat. We forgive her.
She was preceded in death by father, Clyle Minton; grandmother, Louise Maier.

Please join us in a celebration of her life at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Dogwood Hills Baptist Church, 3400 US 79 Palestine, TX 75801, with Daniel Smith officiating. Interment to follow at the Hagan Cemetery in Crockett, TX.
