Born in Ross County Nov. 24, 1882, he was the son of John and Sarah Penwell Steele.
He was married in 1915 to Clara Shoemaker, who survives. Also surviving are six children, Mrs. Jessie Darling of Columbus, and Irvin, Mary, Dorothy, Blanche, and Marshall, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Daisy Yoakum of Bainbridge, Mrs. Belle Free of Frankfort, and Mrs. Goldie Strouse of Bourneville; a brother, Harvey Steele of Chillicothe; and five grandchildren.
Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Shady Glen Church, with the Rev. Rufus Rinehart officiating. Burial in Bourneville Cemetery.
