Michael “Mike” Richard Ford, age 60, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday evening, November 15, 2020 at his home in Franklin.

Mike was born April 21, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Denzil and Ruby (Gillespie) Ford. He was a 1978 graduate of Brown County High School and went on to pursue an Associate of Aviation Maintenance Technology Applied Science Degree from Vincennes University in 1980. After graduation, Mike dedicated 14 years of his life serving his country. He served as a helicopter mechanic with the United Sates Army during the Cold War. He proudly served as an E-5 Sergeant in the Army and later transferred his time to the Army Reserves and Indiana National Guard.

Mike was a devoted single father who raised 3 children on his own. He worked in the Inventory Analysis Department for Caterpillar for 27 years, retiring in 2015. Mike enjoyed his time in the outdoors by gardening and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He will be missed by his children: Julia (Kyle) Berry of Franklin, Sheena Ford of Whiteland and Joshua Michael Ford of Franklin; mother: Ruby Ford of Brown County; grandchildren: Zackary Bray, Haylie Bray, Kaylie Bray, James Barger, Jaice Ford, Atom Ford and Ayden Gaskins; siblings: David Ford of Brown County and Deborah Shearer of Franklin.

Mike was preceded in death by his father and brother Donald Ford.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery with military rites presented by the Brown County Honor Guard and United States Army. All guests attending visitation and/or services will be required to wear a mask at all times in an effort to promote a safe environment.
