F.E. ''Ed'' Middaugh, 73, of 1899 Patterson Drive died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, in Naples, Florida.

Born April 26, 1929, in Galesburg to Marion Leland and Hortense Loreda Williamson Middaugh.

He married Carole Fuhrken on March 5, 1956, in Manhattan, Kansas. She died Feb. 19, 1980.

He married Virginia Adams Moss on Oct. 24, 1980, in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Daniel of Galesburg; two daughters, Patricia (and Robert) Richert of Atlantic, Iowa, and Janet Middaugh of Arlington, Texas; three stepsons, Thomas (and Tina) Moss of Chicago, David (and Margaret) Moss of Bloomington and Timothy (and Alice) Moss of Rock Island; and one sister, Joan Spero of Champaign.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy McGraw on March 21, 1996.

He was a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of the Fraternity of Honor The Chosen Few, the First Marine Division Association, Korean War Veterans Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2257 and Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.

He was a chartered life underwriter and certified financial planner for 25 years, retiring in 1997.

Cremation has been accorded.
