Mary Eloise Nash, 94, of Streator passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at a private care home in Streator.

Visitation will be from 4-6 P.M. Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Friday at St. Michael the Archangel Parish church (St. Stephen's) in Streator. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator.

She was a daughter of Edmund and Jane (Farrell) Nash.

She attended St. Mary's grade school and was a graduate of Streator High School in the Class of 1944. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minnesota and a Master's Degree from Northern Illinois University.

Eloise was a teacher of Spanish and English at St. Mary's Academy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Plainfield High School; and Mendota High School before teaching at Streator High School. She taught from 1957 until her retirement. She was in education for 34 years.

She was a lifetime member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, the LaSalle County Retired Teachers Association and the Alumnae Association of the College of St. Teresa. She was a member of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered in the hospital gift shop for many years.

The the years, she served on the Streator High School Class of 1944 reunion committees. After retiring, Eloise taught English as a Second Language for Spanish-speaking adults adults in the Streatorland area.

She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Betty (Nash) Craven.

She is survived by a nephew: Donald Craven of Streator; and a local cousin: Mike Ritter of Streator; several other cousins survive.
