Strictly a memorial to the father of Margaret Powell Ricketts, and the MELUNGEON POWELL families who lived intentionally isolated in the mountain area of 'Irish Creek' in the 18th-Century. ~~~~ This line of Melungeon, so-called 'Indian,' Powells may have migrated up the entire length of the Roanoke river from the lost colony of Roanoke over some approximate five generations. Finally, these descendants would've had Mediterranean, Indian, and English DNA, and perhaps other European DNA with perhaps a pinch of west African from the Spanish American colonies.
